Not so for Seymour Kushner, who leads a rich and active life outside of his professional duties. While running a business is certainly a passion of his, Seymour is a well-rounded individual who by no means allows work to dominate his life.

Seymour Kushner’s love of jazz and classic rock is well documented, as is his love of concerts and live performances. What is less well known is his appreciation of diverse genres from classical to hip-hop. It takes a true music lover to acknowledge the merits of such disparate performers as Paul McCartney and Jay-Z.

In addition to his business and music-related hobbies, Seymour Kushner has broad horizons in other areas. He is an avid adventurer who enjoys long trips to exotic locations. He has undertaken jeep expeditions to Utah, and the Rocky Mountains, which he enjoyed at high speeds on his motorcycle. He also enjoys spending his time on philanthropy, volunteering at several soup kitchens. Seymour is clearly a businessman with a lust for life.

By now we have proven, one hopes, that Seymour Kushner is nothing if not an avid music fan. It might surprise you, however, to realize just how many other interests this man has!

Seymour Kushner is President of a small publishing and recording company, which distributes its many products worldwide. Seymour is an avid bicyclist, former motorcyclist and jeep enthusiast. He holds degrees in Business Management and Music. He gives freely of his time to local soup kitchens and charitable organizations. And yes: He loves listening to CDs and attending concerts.

Once, Seymour Kushner took a 6-week motorcycle trip through the Northeast provinces of Canada, including Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Additionally, he has embarked on motorcycle trips through the Shenandoah National Park, Blue Ridge Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountains, all considered to be among the most beautiful areas in the United States.

He has had some close calls on these adventures; specifically, Seymour Kushner recalls getting stuck alone in his jeep in the desert of Canyonlands National Park in South East Utah in 120-degree heat. Having been prepared for such an event by bringing the right emergency equipment, he extricated himself after 2 hours of work only to hear the beautiful sound of a Land Rover coming to his aid. When told by a ranger that every summer there are roughly five desert casualties, our adventurer counted his blessings that he lived to tell and write about this sticky situation!

And he is an avid sports fan, too. A long-time track enthusiast, Seymour Kushner competed in the running broad jump as well as the 100-yard dash while attending high school. In college, he was part of the wrestling team. He still enjoys attending and watching track meets, and especially Olympic and NCAA events.

Clearly, there is more to Seymour Kushner than just music; in fact, he is a man of myriad interests, and he is passionate about each and every one of them. He lives a life of curiosity and adventure, and as a result, one expects that he is never bored!

Ask Seymour Kushner about his preferred format for listening to music and you are liable to get an earful; it’s not that he’s preachy, just that he’s passionate, and he happens to feel strongly about the format of music. While Seymour Kushner understands the appeal and portability that come from digital music files, from the iPod and other MP3 carriers, his personal preference is to listen to CDs, on a high-end stereo. It’s not a matter of being snobbish, but of knowing what quality is, and preferring it over the compromised audio found in digital media.

And it is, according to Seymour Kushner, compromised. To create a digital music file for carrying on an MP3 player, the sound must be compressed—and in compressing it, the engineer must sacrifice much of its clarity and depth. This is no small irony, Seymour Kushner reminds us; recording stars pay big bucks for great, studio-quality sound, only to throw it all away by converting their music to MP3 files. For a music lover of this magnitude, CDs and records are the only option!

All of this goes to underscore one basic thing about Seymour Kushner—that he is a diehard music fan. And his is not a passing interest, but a passionate one—and an eclectic one, to boot. Consider all the different musical idioms that Seymour Kushner considers to be favorites:

He has seen many of his favorite dance troupes give performances, and he has visited some of Manhattan’s most storied jazz clubs. Most memorable of all, he says, was his attendance at the Concert for NYC, the six-hour, post-9/11 benefit that featured performances from the likes of Jagger, John, and even Jay-Z!
